Mail   Print   Twitter   Facebook

A) Skewed right, for skewed right it is expected to have a mean larger then the median. The mean for % males per state is 49.37 while the median is 49.15.

For % Commune alone, the graph was skewed left and the mean was slightly smaller (77.678) then the median of (78.85) which is expected from a skewed left graph.

B) for % Male, Florida’s data value is 48.9% it is slightly off of the mean of 49.37 although it is closer to the median of 49.15.  Florida’s value is .60 standard deviations below the mean. As such there is a lower percent of males in Florida then the national average.

For the % of those who commute alone, Florida’s data value is 79.3, this is obviously higher then the mean (77.678) as well as the median (78.85). Florida’s value is .29 standard deviations above the mean. This reveals there is a higher percent of alone commuters in Florida the the national average.

C) The majority of the states with high percents of people who commute alone were rural areas.
