For this project, I decided to compare the average mile time between athletes and non athletes at Rancho Cucamonga High School. This data collected determined whether or not athletes have a better mile time than non athletes. I gathered this data by selecting students who are not associated with sports and with students from various types of sports (such as track, waterpolo, volleyball, crosscountry, etc.), considering the fact that some sports run more often than others. The unit I used to distinguish the average time was minutes.

The center of this data is shown in both the boxplot and dotplot, it is shown that athletes have a lower mile time, where the median ranges from 7-8 minutes and the non athletes median averages around 9-10 minutes. The data for both the athletes and non athletes are shown to have the same spread in comparison to range. For athletes, their mile time ranges from 4 to 10 minutes, whereas non athletes have a range from 6 to 12 minutes. Non Athletes have a lower IQR than athletes. There is one outlier for both athletes and non athletes. 

conclusion: As a result of my data, Athletes are shown to have a lower mile time than non athletes. This is shown through both the means and the median of both the boxplot and dotplot. Considering the mean and median of non athletes is higher than athletes, this shows that non athletes have a higher mile time.
