I feel our society frowns on 'long absences from the workforce' even if it means being a stay at home mom for 5 years. I fear  I'll have to find a new career path if I take this optionI have minimal debt and consistently growing savings which gives me less anxiety about the future so I can take opportunities as they arise and feel less risk. I didn't take out much in student loans and stopped owing on credit cards after college. I have a solid retirement plan and that keeps me on track. I really think money management is more important than how much money you earn.26
